Artifice
An exhibition of artists’ responses to the subject of artificiality. Art by its very definition is artificial (from Latin artificialis “of or belonging to art”). Artifice explores this premise from a number of angles. Included are themes of masks and disguises, ersatz artefacts, online personas, ambiguous reproductions, synthetic bodies and geographical features, places abandoned by nature, and the role of religion in a scientific age.
